Phil's Phavourites This is an occasional series about my personal favourites of Australian issues covering the period George V to Elizabeth II. My second choice is a series of stamps issued between 1987-1988. It was a very impressive issue both from the thematic view and the postal one! This is one of the best issues I've seen from any country. It was part of the Bicentenary of Australian Settlement. It deals with the historic First Fleet that left with convicts from the U.K. in May 1787 to settle in Australia. (See FIRST FLEET more info). The stamps were issued in this order: Departure of First Fleet (36c se-tenant strip) SG 1059-63 (1987) First Fleet at Tenerife (36c se-tenant strip) SG 1064-65, $1 SG 1066 (1987) First Fleet at Rio de Janeiro (37c se-tenant strip) SG 1077-81 (1987) First Fleet at Cape of Good Hope (37c se-tenant strip) SG 1091-92, $1 SG 1092 Arrival of First Fleet (37c se-tenant strip) SG 1105-09 (1988) Well done Aus Post!
